I lost a friend. My grandmother. My travel companion. My sounding board. My spiritual guide. My mentor. My Sweetie.
Sweetie passed away on May 22, 2019. She taught me we don't "step" in our family, which means nothing about stepbrother, stepsister, etc. She taught me to be patient. She taught me to slow down. She taught me to love wholeheartedly and unconditionally. She taught me it's okay if others give up on you, don't give up on yourself. She taught me self-respect. She taught me to laugh out loud and be fearless. She taught me time was the most precious of all commodities.
I have cried for her, laughed at the memories and ached for her passing but I will remember her saving my wedding invitation and making sure I got it back after she passed, driving me every week to a doctor's appointment for nearly two years, sending me pictures of our travels around the world before her passing, and making sure I wasn't left out.
I'll miss you, Sweetie, but I'm grateful you left me a much better person.
"O, thou soul at peace! Return to thy Lord, thou well-pleased with Him and He well-pleased with thee. So enter thou among My chosen servants, and enter thou My Garden".
ββAl-Fajr (89:28-31)
Peace!
